some apocalyptic faithlessness, ushering on 2ndComing by making "total war"
on people and earth. Thank God not all Christians are this callous.
Now to your answer to my picture puzzle: poussette

corbin i refer you to the indicators
glaciers receding
snow caps on mountains shrinking
shorter time for ice forming on Hudson's Bay, affecting the polar bears
warmer latitude flora encroaching on colder latitudes
sea levels rising so that coastal peoples already have to move further inland, and U.S. West Coast cities worrying about it.
ice cores in Greenland showing that it hasn't been this warm for several hundred thousand years
please explain these if they are not indicators of global warming

Actually, there is no scientific dispute that global warming is occuring.
Uhhh....I really hate to say this but.....That is one of the more ridiculous statements I have read on the subject....
The problem is that those feeding the frenzy are only able to speak in broad generalities...... And the comment about the oil companies is a standard sound bite.....My standard sound bite response is how many of those defending the opposite position are funded by environmental extremist organizations.......so what was accomplished by either remark?
I have posted articles by noted climatologists...men that are in Universities and they have a differing opinion....but thank you for proving my point about how this so called "Consensus" has been reached....it was just deemed to be.....no true science achieved.....it was just the right thing to do....in the minds of those doing the "deeming".

None are so blind as them that will not see. Actually, there is no
scientific dispute that global warming is occuring. Science journals trump the statements of Exxon-Mobile press releases every time.
Economically we have nothing to gain by ignoring the problem. Hundreds of millions of refuges will put quite a strain on the US if only a small fraction of them come here once their homes are flooded. And we still have millions of displaced Floridians to think about.

Instead of attacking those with differing views....trying to drive them out of their respective fields a summit should come about for all views to be heard....without being shouted down.......
You've seen how many times we have been down the catastrophe road....not one turned out right.....the banning of DDT resulted in the death of 20-30 million people unnecessarily....frankly, I'd like some proof, not suppositions or trumped up claims....
As far as I can see right now, this is all an attempt to punish the US for it's successes. Show me one country that has made as much improvement in their pollution levels.....China, India? Even if the US completely complied with every crazy recommendation....that would be offset just by the number of coal power plants those two counties will complete in the next seven years.....We pay for our compliance with a devestating blow to our economy....and they're exempt? Sorry, but the motivations I see here have little to do with the environment....but a hell of a lot to do with leveling the economic playing field....at our expense....I don't know about you.....but I need to eat and pay bills.

corbin do you mean
that for every scientist that believes in global warming there is another that does not
it is ttuily 50/50
so you propose that we do nothing
we let the greenhouse gasses accumulate.
and i ask the questin again -- if they truly are the source of global warming --
but you haven't countered the indicators i have listed -- before we continue the debate, would you please address those? then if you can show that this is not the result of global warming, then we can go on to other parts of the debate.
but it seems you want to take the chance and maybe the world is devastated by global warming
well l don't.
i am not that big a gambler.

So everyone is maintaing that there is....
a consensus in the scientific community? RIght....That there is scientific truth that has been determined by disproving each and every opposing view.....You can't honestly make that statement.
The scientific community is equally divided on this issue...therefore no consensus exists....why is that hard to see? A consensus is not agreement of those one on side....it has to be through the process of elimination.....agreement of both sides...this has not happened.......so no conclusion based on scientific truth exists. A whole lot of hypotheses....that is all.

Republicans know more then scientists, remember the great
Dr. Bill Frist, he told everyone that Terry Schiavo was not in a permanent vegetative state by just watching a video of her for one hour in his office.

Xeno - I'm in full agreement. I bought and watched Inconvenient Truth
last night and I don't understand how anyone can argue it. It is absolutely a shame that neocons have turned this into a party line issue because it used to not be that way. Some of the greatest environmental first steps took place under the Nixon Administration. But this admin is in the bed with war profiteers and big oil. But there is a slow green revolution coming. The number of hybrids on the road and the sale of sustainable products in the grocery store would not have been forecast ten years ago.
It is up to the citizens now to do what the executive branch won't. Thats why cities and states are adopting the Kyoto standards since the Bush administration has failed to acknowledge the problem. We are a nation of rebels who will do what it takes, good and sometimes bad, to survive.

corbin -- all you have to do is show unequivocally that they are wrong
but you cannot
you might refer to certain disssenters -- but you cannot give us an inarguable case against global warming.
these scientists I refer to say that global warming exists and it is inarguable that it exists.
i have listed all the indicators -- all you have to do is show that these are normal -- and particularly the ice cores that show that this is the warmest period in several hundred thousand years.
i think the case of the dissenters is totally full of holes.
i think we cannot afford to think that global warming is not real -- we need to take action to reverse the effects of human activity.
