I went to school with a Palestinian "justice of the peace" in Nebraska in 1982  who spoke little English but conveyed that these community judges were under the Western model and were placed in the Israeli Army so they were subject to military discipline, even though they were nt actually militarily trained.

Maj, an interesting question. Guess there's no way to know the answer.

A scant minority stirs fears, but scant minorities can be hugely destructive
I wonder how many Muslim (not "Black Muslim") law enforcemenet officers, correctional officers and judges there are in the U.S.? Detroit?

Wiley, I think struggles like this happen where people live.
They start to feel the need to defend their own turf.

Frankenkitty, and New Orleans is still a shambles,
this has been the most dysfunctional government I have ever seen in America.

Cynthia -
thank you for taking the time to read me... yes - it would seem we are indeed kindred spirits. An awesome feeling.

Cynthia, this is very interesting.
This country can't control gang violence or drug abuse, never mind warring Muslim's factions in Iraq and in the US. I never thought for a second Iraq was invaded with the intention of creating a peaceful and democratic country.  Why don't we plant apple seeds on the moon while we're at it.  I suppose that's a negative attitude, but I'm a realist. Take care

afzal, someone on another blog site I write for said
"it couldn't happen here". I reminded him of a city called Sarajevo and a country called Yugoslavia, that now no longer exists. Back in the 1980's when the winter olympics was being held there they thought the same thing.
