It is true that governments become more intrusive and heavy handed by the day, but really! The picture that you paint is of the Apoclypse having arrived and knocking at our door!
Some time ago, I posted a piece about the year of 1941; now there was a year when we, justifiably, felt that the end of our civilization was near.
But we overcame it, and now one hell of a lot of people seem to think our civilization's tottering on the brink of an abyss once more.
This is nonsense! On every single objective measurement, almost everyone in the world -- and yes, I do include those in the Third world -- is healthier, wealthier, and lead more secure and stable lives than ever in history.
And no, multinational companies do not depress wages, for the figures show that they pay higher wages than normal in the countries where they operate ; and they spread skills that may be exported elswhere.
Such abominations as Darfur are not the norm ; they are an aberration
