Wow! Now I get it!

No.....
I didn't aim to imply that.....  Since they are not part of the government (supposedly) then technically, no.

What I was talking about was....we haven't done anything when the troops came across....what would prompt a response to these guys???  What's going to happen is some of the NG's are going to get shot......

Then we'll here a second round of protesters yelling......."Pull Them Out!"  "Pull Them Out!"......Of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California......go figure.

So are you saying
That if it's the Mexican army that it would not be considered an act of war to aim their weapons on our guys?

posted by Offy on January 30, 2007 at 5:35 AM | link to this | reply

Sally
The Mexican Army is involved with the drug smuggling trade and there are documented reports of their having crossed the border several times to make sure a shipment makes it in.......

CD
You have probably heard about the incident with the National Guard doing border patrol As I have heard it they were on regular patrol when they met up with very armed and dangerous illegals. They were out numbered and the illegals took a military tactic by surrounding them. Now the National Guard has orders not to fire and these poor guys backed down and reported them to border police.....but my question is would it not be considered an act of war to enter the US illegally and well armed and ready to shoot our National Guardsmen?

Offbeats...
Yes it does.....I hope we aren't going to go through the same crap as before.....I don't want to get into it with someone who is sick......but I have this gut feeling that it's not going to be  very nice.........

Corbin's right Blan...Blogflogger...

He's trying to make the valid point that each of us has a right to his or her own opinion. You MUST learn to respect the rights of others to believe what they wish.

It isn't right to try to bully people into believing "your way".  That never works anyway. It simply makes people more determined NOT to relent.

I know you're intelligent enough to realize that.

Yes.....it was terrible.....
the way the protesters damaged things.......now we both have arrived at  opinions......I an not going to yield on my opinion...and you're not on yours.  There we have a nice little impasse...now, good night and go have a cup of coffee....or, what ever you may do in....."Oregon"

I did witness tapes of the WTO demonstations, Corbin, much of what
the police did to protestors was never released to the mainsteam media.  There was brutal excessive force.

Disdain and contempt for anyone who does not share your opinion.

The only opinion mentioned so far we have agreed upon...so what in the hell are you talking about.....

BTW....When did you move out of the Pacific Northwest???

All right, Corbin. I'll put together a post on the Moveon.org phone tree
and protest.  I expect you will drop by and visit me then.  I really need to get my beauty sleep. Good night, after all, just because we disagree doesn't mean we can't respect each other's opinions, don't you think?

It's Vandalism
Citizens of the U.S. have the right to PEACABLY assemble...  Of course, if you are spray-painting slogans on public property while so assembled, I don't think that constitutes being PEACEFUL.  Anyway, it was clear from the video that there weren't a heck of a lot of people there... at least their cause is not popular.

And yet again, you ignore my saliently argued points, which I take great
pains over. You wound me to the quick, Corby, NOT

days, Corbin, anything?

Flogger....
That's good to know.....When did you move to Seattle?

posted by Corbin_Dallas on January 29, 2007 at 7:43 PM | link to this | reply

Corbin, I don't condone property damage, and this was wrong.

Whoever organized this march should pay restitutioin to the property owners.  Here in the Northwest, some anarchists smashed in the Macy's and MacDonald's windows during the Seattle World Trade Organization demonstrations that pitted police in riot gear and National Guardsman with rifles against the civilian population, hardly a fair fight, if you ask me.

The Poss Comitatus Act of the 19th Century was designed to prevent use of military force on the US civilian population.  I still think the macing of women and young boys and girls went too far, even the anarchists only used rocks.

No police and riot gear,no rifles should ever be used on the US civilian population.

The right of the people to PEACEABLY assemble shall not be abridged. First Amendment of the Constitution. I trust you have read a copy?

Corbin,
This is utterly pathetic, and it totally amazes me. I don't think  even in this country anyone would have allowed our own idiots (and we have plenty of those) to spray-paint their slogans on the steps of our Parliament Building...what the hell is going on in Washington?

Corbin

I just spoke with Carl on his way to work and I have never heard him this upset or disgusted.  He made an interesting point though.  As he put it I was verbally assaulted more than once over his service.  He has been verbally assaulted.  Someone we know was spit on while in uniform, I have seen soldiers cornered while in uniform by the anti-war types and these soldiers are under ORDERS not to get into a verbal or physical confrontation with anyone over the war.  They are allowed to have a civilized conversation and even allowed to say what they really think but they are expected to take being called killers among other things.  The soldier gives up their rights in order to ensure the rights of these fools.  Carl is beginning to wonder why?

I hope these people are happy because the soldiers who have ALWAYS believed that everyone should be granted the same rights are the same ones who are beginning to question if these people are really worth defending.

For me....this is what I have a problem with.
These  crazy being willing to do this is not a surprise....but to have the Capitol Police stand down pisses me off.....it was ALLOWED to happen. So which event is worse???  The act itself?  Or the decision to allow it to happen?

posted by Corbin_Dallas on January 29, 2007 at 2:06 PM | link to this | reply

So now vandalism is legal as well?
I guess anything in the name of political correctness.  So glad I lost a year with my husband so he could defend the rights of these assholes.  Forgive the language, it's toned down from what I would really like to say.

Freedom of speech???

I don't think so......not defacing the capitol property......

Could I spray  "God Bless America" and not be arrested....the fact is the Dem leadership is in charge of the capitol......and we know their reputation for showing respect......

And do the anti-war crowd think they are Palestinian  protesters or something??? What with the masking of their face.....how original!
