unfortunately, no--it was about ten years ago. The phonies are out there for sure, and it does make it harder for some people to see the authenticity in others.

Julia....this was very interesting. Do you still have any sessions with

Samuel? I have a friend that does readings through the Akashic Records like Edgar Cayce did and that is how I learned about many of my past lives. Also since I taught metaphysics for years and owned a wellness center I have become associated with many truly gifted people and unfortunately came across those phonies that make it bad for the true psychics!

I really don't know why you wouldn't be able to hear the name if you can hear other things. You might have more than one guide but maybe you just aren't able to pick up that information?

Re: YOUNG SOULS
I enjoyed reading that about your indian life.  Also, the idea that a feeling of disconnection from humanity can be due to being a young soul with no previous life experiences to feel familiar with, is interesting,  Ive never thought of it like that but I can see how it makes sense even though it obviously doesnt apply in your case.  More food for thought, thanks Julia.   About spirit guides - I often hear or read of people referring to their guides by a personal name, eg. samuel - well I do hear the voice and guidance of mine but have never been able to discover his/her name,  so I would think its because he/she doesnt want me to know for some reason, or could my guide possibly not even have a name? If so why not?.....or maybe, do you think I have several guides and for them all to tell me there names would be too confusing for me?  What do you think?    Thanks

This is an interesting subject of course....

But I think we often DO focus on such things as past lives instead of just living the life God gave us NOW. I remember that guy who talks to the dead saying something like how he was astounded that so many people wanted to talk to their dearly departed loved ones...

Often these were people they didn't have much to do with when they were alive. They could have had strong, loving relationships with these family members but did not for whatever reason.

Suddenly, they want to talk to the person just because they're dead.

I don't know a lot about my past lives, but only a few very painful

if nothing else, the experience is interesting! But I agree with you, when certain things just resonate with us for no particular reason, there is probably a connection to the past.

and I have heard that there are people who are really afraid of "getting" it, (i.e., experiencing what they came to do) because they think that the moment they do, they will die. And you know, there may be some truth to that! Maybe some people check out early so they can come back sooner to have a different experience on their soul's evolutionary path. Who knows!

There's certainly nothing wrong with having a sense of humor about it. I don't think we were meant to take every minute of life so serious. And you're right, we can't prove a thing one way or the other--but in anything (not just this subject) I try to find out what I feel in my gut about it. So you DID steal Rocky's husband! LOL.

my "sources" tell me that we do not stay strictly male or female in subsequent incarnations. Depending on what we came to do, we will take the body of either gender.

Rcky, LOL

I stole your husband in Atlantis? Sounds like the old Ariala. LOL

Well, here's the thing...none of us can prove any of this and it just makes me laugh...I can't help it! LOL  But it is fun to surmise...in fact, hubby and I do it ALL THE TIME...I often say, "I remember that from Atlantis."  And he says, "I remember that from my time as a druid priest," LOL The man is obsessed with trees and I think he was one in a past life and I tell him that all the time ROFL...We are strange, what can I say?  (Not bad for Christians, eh?  Some of us can be open-minded...remember, I "agreed" to come back as a Christian in this lifetime to make up for my time as a witch in Atlantis hahahaha, okay, so that's what she told me.)

yeah that could explain it, or perhaps it was just a way, as Samuel said, to shield me from the suffering of my past. I think our spiritual self knows everything--but most people don't know how to tap into that knowledge--Samuel helped me because where he was, he also "knew."

I don't think there is any "starting over" process either. Whatever we do, is always going to be part of our spiritual evolution. Knowing your past lives doesn't really help, except that it does explain certain things--I definitely had an "A HA!" moment after mine.

Hmmmm....interesting Julia, I look forward to it. Like I said..what do I

Ariala...in my opinion....you had a life in Atlantis....I think I remember

running into you! Hey aren't you the little nymph that stole my husband? LOL Seriously, in my opinion you are an old soul because of your wisdom and you are a seeker, and most old souls began their earthly lives in Lemuria or Atlantis. I hope you don't mind me butting in Julia!

an "old soul" eh?? Well, I always felt like a bit of a newbie at this human experience thing, but I guess I don't really know one way or the other.

Samuel told me something that contradicts what you said about humans not returning back to animals; he explained that they do go back sometimes, but not because of any "negative" act as a human--I will post that conversation sometime soon--stay tuned!!

The way I understand it to work, if we are truly serious about the learning, is that we won't leave until what is supposed to occur occurs. We as humans are so impatient and fearful of everything. I think that alone prevents things from moving along.

Ariala--

"Could all be coincidence"--hahaha! That strikes me funny. No, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a coincidence. She was either picking it up from you, from what you had already created with the song and the other stuff, or she saw it from a past life. Even if she did pick it up from what you created, that doesn't (for me) negate that it could be from a past life--after all, something inspired you to create these things, and they obviously resonated with a part of you!

I think my past life regression was done through hypnosis, though I've never been hypnotized so I'm not sure. It felt somewhat like a guided meditation.

Maybe we don’t start over. Maybe we continue on the same spiritual path. I think if I was given the opportunity to have a glimpse into my past lives I would jump on it. They are, after all, what has shaped me into what I am today.

Julia this was great! I DO believe in reincarnation and I am blessed to

know many of my past lives which have been revealed in various ways. I do not however, believe that we began our individual earthly lives as a lower life form, as in an animal nor do we return to a lower life form based on negative deeds. This is the belief in "transmigration" that is believed by many Hindus. This belief in my opinion is what makes many skeptics attack the belief in reincarnation. I believe animal soul groups evolve to a higher form and maybe somewhere way back to our very first lives we did come from a specific animal soul group but once in human form we never return to a lower form. And I'm sure you are already aware that you are an "Old Soul" so if you were a tiger or cat that would have to have been eons ago! But then again, what do I know! LOL So, here is another thing we have in common....my metaphysical buddy! LOL

Julia, well, considering I had written a song called Last Night in Atlantis

descibing the chaos in detail and the fact that I've always been drawn to the stories of Atlantis, and esoteric studies, etc., yes, it made lots of sense.  I think I told you she said I had been a practitioner of the magical arts and a healer.  I once made an Atlantean headband and wand, etc...this was before she told me any of this and she didn't know any of this either...could all be coincidence...the fact that I can't prove any of it, plays against it all for me.

How do they do past life regression?  Is it through hypnotism?

Ariala--
having someone just "tell" you who you were does not produce anywhere near the experience as it does when you discover it for yourself. Doesn't mean the lady was wrong though--I wonder how it felt to you to hear her say this about you--was there any recognition or feeling that she might be right, despite your not believing in reincarnation?

posted by Julia. on January 29, 2007 at 10:21 AM | link to this | reply

Talion--
very few (if any) people actually just "remember" a past life, it has to be discovered--through the process of past life regression, and possibly through dreams or meditation.

posted by Julia. on January 29, 2007 at 10:18 AM | link to this | reply

Because I don't believe in reincarnation, it still might be fun to find out
who others claim I was, etc.   The Atlantis connection, as one lady said was part of me, is intriguing...kinda fun to think about, but I can't muster enough belief in it myself.    If I get a "free" chance, though, I'd take it.
