If childhood was tumultuous – as was the case with you and so many others – our minds have a way of letting go of it. Memories fade and they take with them even the happy moments unfortunately. I’m a post war baby but my household had its own drama and chilliness. As much as I try there are only fragments that I can remember. Albeit it’s a protective mechanism, I often hunger for some warm childhood memories…… Beautiful poem!
