Azur

Our author friend has something I envy - supreme self confidence.  We have two of her paintings hanging on our walls alongside two of my Mother's and one of my Father's.  My parent's paintings are away out of her league, but they kept them to themselves.  That lack of self confidence is one trait I definitely inherited.  I normally stop inches from the tape.  As you say, Azur, better to have tried.

I'll keep every finger and toe crossed that your dreams comes true, and I am touched that you would want to keep in touch - oops, sorry about that - even from your future dizzy heights.

JohnMacNab, thank you for this update
In spite of being in the red it is still no small achievement. Better that she wrote it and  got it out than not to try at all.  As for dreams, a year from now I will be in mine but of course I will never be above keeping in touch with blogging friends

Pat
Fantasies aren't  supposed to be sensible, Pat.  It sounds very logical to me, so maybe it isn't a fantasy?   I've never had any fantasy about my writing... well....I do daydream occasionally.

Maybe others are more sensible, but I have this fantasy...
I take my book to a self-publisher, send copies to libraries and schools, get it listed on Amazon, and someone who works for a major film producer gets a look at it, talks to the money guys and they take an option. They let me help write the screenplay, hire a dynamite cast and crew. The film is shot, edited and released, becomes an Academy Award contender. Naturally, "they" want to look at my other stuff. I get to appear on Oprah, who is impressed that most of my royalties go to a foundation to support a teaching/writing/marketing center for writers.
