Some superbly profound thought-provoking post needing mediation. I shall take a print out and preserve it. Thanks my dear friend.

I agree completely, Faholo--this country is in the trouble it's in
because so many of us trust someone else to have conscience, to be conscious and conscientious for us, so we can stay busy soaking up entertainment in as many forms as possible!

Odysseus, even the routine event has elements of uniqueness that
make it interesting! Driving the same old road, an owl once swooped across in front of the car... My passenger, who sleeps as soon as the car starts, missed that magic moment.

Julia, yes, even those activities which are mostly on auto-pilot
are better when we are also attending consciously to them-- like driving, f'rinstance!

Ciel…….thanks for the link…….
as you say, we can accomplish much by simply “arresting routine in a state of consciousness” so that it is becomes something else….no longer boring routine…..but something beyond, something purposeful, exciting, and well intended.

Ciel--
I think consciousness is perhaps the greatest attribute a human can have. Of course, I'm not sure it's possible to live 100% in that state, but it is certainly something worth striving for.
