I think some people (male or female) just seem to try too hard. They try so hard that they overlook the fact that they may actually already be liked for

My ex-boyfriend gave me a $350 necklace for Christmas.
When I broke up with him, he accused me of using him for Christmas presents. I was like...you can have the necklace back. Presents aren't going to make me fall in love with someone.

I need to go back for a "real" Maine trip. I just took a 4 day jaunt to Portland by myself in the dead of winter 2 years ago (I'm not bothered by cold weather!) and I LOVED that city. I'd love to see more of the state, and in summer or fall.

He bought her a $600 leather coat. While it was amazingly beautiful, I tried to discourage him in the first place and she absolutley would not accept it. I like gifts but until you are sharing the bills, something that expensive would horrify me.
