I've also had a guitar since an early age (14 I think). It was given to me for free, (the lessons too), by a friend of a friend of my mother's. Until we realised that he was only giving me the lessons to get to my mom, so we ditched him, and now that sad little guitar is sitting at the back of my cupboard feeling only loneliness and neglect.

mmmmm, maybe I should start practicing too. How's that going by the way?

I've just gota buy a battery for my tuner and I'm all set to go.

Good luck keep it up!

Mysteria
I have a beautifully hand-crafted guitar which sit right behind me (on a stand) in my office.  I look at it and think - "I really should pick it up and at the very least strum the 4 or 5 chords I know" but it's been sitting there for about 6 months now.  So I know the feeling....

Hi, I left you a really long answer to your comment...
But I'd feel really bad about pasting it here because it's so long...LOL!!! Anyway, I can't see to type cuz you got me crying too.

Passsh...thank you so much. I'm actually in tears right now.

(don't worry, I'm an easy cry)

I've longed to be part of something it seems. I am so afraid of intimacy I was even afraid of reading your story. The good news is, is that I did read it and I am so pleased!

This could be the start of me breaking out of my little shell of isolation and into the world of human affairs. Sometimes I feel really guilty wallowing in my saddness. But really I think that I do deserve the luxury of doing so, at least for a little while longer.

It has been a long road filled with horrible abuse for me. All I ever wanted to do was to share my heart, my big giant overflowing, gushing heart and so often it was crushed.

I've learnt so much through these years and experiences PasssH! Thank you for being a big part of helping me see the light. You are a truly truly treasured person to me. I'll always be thankful for you. You're in my heart!

Mysteria, I wanted to make sure you saw this comment

That I left you in the Road Trips, cuz it truly IS a delight to have you in the story now.

It was delightful to have you in the story. If you haven't already, I hope you'll check out the episode before this one. I love that scene where you and I run out on the ice to meet Blackcat and you swing me around.

I could just see that taking place in my mind so clearly.

I sometimes feel this about my writing plans
We just need to do these things because often, in my case anyway, I spend so much time fantasizing that time runs out (and I think I know that will be the case so hide behind it and don't have the courage to do something about it)

You need confidence in YOU
to paraphrase from "The Sound of Music".  And to do that you start simple, with simple songs and the chords you need for them.  Then make up a song using the chord progressions you can easily master.  Don't worry about its originality, or even words.  The point is get comfortable being creative with the guitar using rudimentary technique and to then add more advanced techniques to integrate into your repertoire.

Carl Peter

Disclaimer: do not come to me for guitar lessons.  My instruments are French Horn, trumpet, piano and voice.  From my guitar-playing friends, I have learned that chords are the basis of guitar technique.  So I substituted chords for the fingerings, registration and tonguing for the instruments I am familiar with.

LMAO Mysteria...if you can figure out how to make

EVERYTHING as fun as blogging, then you can be Master of the Universe. Me and you could work on it together. We'll put our great minds together and see what hatches...LOL!!

Have you read any of the Road Trip Sagas? I bet you're busy reading your new book my Laura Shlesinger, right? Anyway, I hope you like your character in the sagas.
