During transport from the vendor to the store, there is the occasional
spill from a containter which has for some reason of being knocked around  or ruptured during the trip, lost a small portion (if not all) of its contents: since the crates containing the milk containers are stacked upon each other, when one carton leaks, ther is the possiblity of dripping over several below. After a time the spilled milk becomes that 'crust' which most of us would rather not consider a
nutritional part of snack or meal...
