Aw, thanks, Joe.
I'm glad you haven't had to experience this yet. I'm trying to hold up as best as I can.

I understand what you're saying, Julia.
But think of it this way: There's no concept of "time" on the other side. In other words, if I died right now, I'd still see all the souls even if they reincarnated. I don't believe animals reincarnate because they were already born pure, innocent souls and don't come here to perfect their soul like we humans do. Lucky for them, huh?!

I agree, Ciel.
I think most of us come back. Some choose to stay on the other side. Probably smart. Physical life is the "hell." That's why we're not allowed to keep too much of the memories (if any at all) of Home. If we could, we'd never come back into a new life!

You just pulled a tears from my eye. Very sweet entry. I haven't had to go through a death of a parent yet, therefore the questions you pose haven't really rolled through my head that much. I just hope somehow when it does happen that I will be able to handle it as well as you seem to be doing.

I don't really know who I'd see there
because I believe we reincarnate, so I guess it depends on who has already come back. I'd love to see some of my departed kitties though. If I died now, I'd regret not writing/publishing a book about my brother and a novel.

Totally agree about pets, too--
I'm aware, when one of ours passes, they are still here--they stay by us, happy and healthier than ever, as long as we need them. Some come back again in new skins...

Oh, and Presley, BTW,
Your comment about me and my mom having a connection deeper than purely biological makes me feel even better...
I was adopted at 1 week of age.

Presley,
Thank you SO much for sharing that with me. I'm very sorry to hear about your grandma's passing. It's never easy when a loved one dies. I feel the same way about my grandparents' passing. I have always totally imagined them dancing together upon their reunion, too!!

Sir Strat,
Your pets WILL be there. They're waiting for you. So are your previous friends and family. But remember, there is no concept of time on the Other Side, so it will feel only as "earth time" to us; not to them. And yep, there are plenty of bars there, too!!! Someday when we're back Home, me and you must meet up in one!!

Ya know, Whacky....
In my beliefs, our deceased pets are usually the first there! In fact, the "human" souls usually have to fight their way through for initial greetings!!

I enjoy how you talk about the relationship between you and your mother. It's quite evident you were connected at more than a mere biological level; it appears to go so much deeper than that.
The movie fascinates me on so many levels. The artistry along with the depth of the messages it conveys is so masterful. I do imagine the afterlife. My grandmother just passed away, and I've had this uncanny feeling that she's on a dance floor with my grandfather doing the jitterbug and celebrating her reunion with him and those who moved on before her. When I imagine my own afterlife for some reason I live more among animals, on a type of prairie/forest area. Loved ones come and visit, but for the most part, it's me communicating with all the wild animals who protect me. I have no idea what that means, but that is where my mind goes. It sounds sad and lonely, but it doesn't feel that way when my mind's eye is imagining it.

First of all, I agree with what bel said. Please don't feel that your mother suffered longer than she shoud have for your sake. She went when she was ready, period. I know she will the first one you see when it's your time.
I wil go to a place where I have the metabolism of a supermodel and don't get hangovers! I will see my father and finally get to know him (sans cancer) as an adult. And Montana will be right there with him. (Can you believe he's been gone for a year? I posted about that Sunday. My how time flies!) As for regrets, I don't have many. Our choices make us who we are, flaws and all. The thing most people probably think I shuld regret is the one thing I definitely don't.

this post breaks my heart
I did see the movie, it was rather different than I expected from Williams but it was very good. I remember the color seeming strange though the movie, I am not sure what the intent of that was exactly but it made it a bit more surreal for me.
You mother loves you so very much and if she stayed longer then that was her choice. No parent ever feels good about leaving their child behind; she did what all parents do and tried to protect her child. It would not matter how strong you are she would have tried to stay anyway.

Never thought about it much.
Hope my dogs are there. Hope there's a good bar there. Hope the family's there. And as the late great Lewis Grizzard said, "I hope they don't run out of fried chicken and Camels there."
Basically, I don't have a problem with where I am now. In fact, I'm often inclined to think this is about as good as it gets.

I don't doubt that your mom will be first in line!
My afterlife will be in Tolkien's (and my) Middle-earth. I have had a part of myself there since I first followed the pathways Tolkien laid out, and have been exploring it (through poetry mostly) ever since.
