I must admit, I like your story and message. However, I must point out
that stereotyping is a person's nature defense.

I trust 'em. I like 'em. So often they think for themselves,
they're not bored, tuned-out, turned-off sluggards. I always enjoy talking with artists and folks having a different perspective than mine. However, they usually mistake me for the old square they're protesting against. It's so much fun. :)

SYMPHONY
I, too, have been guilty of misreading someone's intentions solely because of his appearance. Nice reminder.

Beautiful, Symphony.
We all need to look past the outer self-expression and into the being inside. You just never know...

SYMPHONY, sometimes the people we fear the most for whatever
reasons, turn out to be the "good samaritans"..while the others just keep to themselves and walk or run on by..

thanks for the reminder
in the "image is everything" society we live in today, it's nice to have that notion ripped apart.

Good story - quite true too.
I've never met a nasty punk, although most of us have heard of Sid Vicious - he was nasty but he was extremely stupid. Punk culture is usually liked by quite well-meaning, well-educated people, surprisingly. It was quite middle class from the start. You're more likely to get trouble from other groups - but I won't name any cos that would be stereotyping again!!

A heart-felt
and totally sensible conclusion. Many ads in the UK have played on the viewer's initial perception of a character only to find an alternative, if not opposite, reality.

I couldn't agree more. I've had this happen to me and I've also done it to others without always knowing or meaning to.
I applaud this young man and his kindness. Looks should not matter, and if the world were full of more such people we'd all be a hell of a lot better off.
Thank you for sharing this story with me...It renews my faith in the human race...
