I hear ya!
I am also on a healthy diet thing right now and I'm STARVING! The only way I have any willpower is to not get too hungry. Once that happens, I've had it. I try and snack every couple of hours. Good cereal (I like oatmeal) with skim milk for brekkie, fruit a bit later on, I buy salad greens at the store already washed so they are easy to throw on a plate and really fill me up. I cooked up some boneless chicken (in the oven, nothing but salt/pepper and some garlic powder), then chopped it up, and froze it in bags. It will thaw in a few minutes and makes a great salad. I cut out all carbs at night (no potato or pasta, if I want a little bit I eat that at lunch).
My staple snack is microwave popcorn. There is a low fat one that tastes good and does fill me up.
I bought a bunch of veg (red peppers, brocoli, carrot) and cut them up all at once and put them in a bag in the fridge. I can put a salad together in 2 minutes if it's all right there.
Tomato juice, great drink and gets some veg into you. We have something called V-8 here, do you have it? Multi-veg drink that is really good. Fills you up too.
If you want a cocktail, stay away from Baileys, it's SO high in calories. Have a wine or a vodka on your 'treat' day.
Good luck Symph, let me know how you're making out. I weigh in on Thursday, I'll let you know how I did.

SYMPHONY
Suggestion one (which as nothing to do with staving off hunger). I'm not sure if you meant a salad with chicken in it or 'chicken salad,' but if it's the latter, beware of mayonnaise unless it's lite or fat free. It's very fattening. Also, look for whole wheat bread (not just "wheat") for your sandwiches. Now for the other suggestion. Don't forget the snacking thing. I will post some snack ideas in my health blog. Eat every few hours so you don't let yourself get ravenous. As for the things you miss, give yourself a few days of doing really well, get more used to it, then have a wee bit of something "forbidden." But I know what you mean about eating the whole box of chocolates. Sometimes for me it's easier to abstain since I'm not good at moderation! Think of all the fruits and veggies you like best, and eat losts of them! Believe it or not, I don't like that many myself, which means I eat TONS of the ones I do like. It gets a little monotonous. Just don't fry them or put butter on them!

Most importantly, don't think of it as a "diet," just think of it was a healthy lifestyle. Good luck! I'll be back tomorrow with more encouragement for ya!

anytime i'm struggling with not putting something in my mouth (keep all
jokes to yourself on that one!) i always keep a small, easliy transported bottle of water on hand. i used this technique when i quit drinking and then again when i quit smoking. the activity of putting bottle to mouth took care of my physiological hand to mouth habit and the water provided a constant healthy flush of my system. worked like a charm and i was blessed with much better skin as an added bonus.

Lol...You'll be all right, love. Just hang in there. I know what you mean about the exercise bit...I need to do a LOT more of that too.
Perhaps we could cheer each other on. I'll ring you up soon to see how you're getting on. You'll make it...I just know you will!!
I've found a great way to ward off the craving for sweets...Eat LOTS of fresh fruit. Since they contain natural sugar, you burn it off much faster.
I'm here if you need a chat...

I don't know much about dieting for weight loss Symphony
I did read once that Dolly Parton lost quite a few pounds by eating whatever she wanted - but only three bites three times a day. Sounds kind of odd and not too healthy to me, but she swore by it - said she had energy to exercise and wasn't obsessed by thoughts of good ol'...never mind, don't want to make you hungrier, lol.

Good Luck!

I heard that when you first try to diet, you feel fatter. So we have to be patient through that phase and keep building a higher metabolism with the daily workout. Also clean and polish everything to spend energy.
