The pitbull has been bread through many generations to fight and attack.  I feel they should be banned, and in many places they are banned.

I do wonder why any responsible parent would let their child stay in the home where a pitbull resided.  I know I wouldn't.

SYMPHONY

I think it is an abomination what some people have done with these animals. It is completely irresponsible.

A pit-bull by nature of its breeding is not human aggressive. Unfortunately, those who breed them for protection are changing the evolution of the species. You have to be careful when getting one nowadays, as the pool has become tainted.

As you pointed out, pit-bulls have outstanding qualities. They were not too long ago revered for their courage, dedication, and determination. It has been in the last twenty or so years that they have been bastardized and abused and thus demonized.

The whole thing is very sad to see.

It is the way the owner has trained and interacted with the dog.

I love animals, but not as much as children. Pit bulls have killed many children and adults across the world in the last few years. I say annihilate them all.

Symphony....
I believe strat is right.  That dog should be put down.  He has tasted blood and will attack again.

I do not think that dogs should be banned ... but certain breeds have a
notorious reputation for hurting people and other dogs/animals ... the owners also often do not care to teach their dogs (and in some cases their kids) from a young age ...

Thanks for your comment...Chilitree

I have heard of all types of vicious dogs.....how can we possibly know what ones are good or bad...

it's like trying to pick out a murderer....we never know until they strike...

I just don't know - if we ban the dogs....would we really be safe....as any dog can turn.

I have now just read this story..

I can't help but, blame the owners....as I said - my dog was a wonderful dog....I know of other dogs that are wonderful too.

I used to think no, the breed shouldn't be banned or destroyed.
Owners should always be severely punished.

However, they poor dogs have been so badly inbred to bring out the most vicious traits, it may be too late.

That dog certainly needs to be put down -- he clearly cannot be controlled and he is obviously dangerous.
