Hi Dave, history and rugby was all I ever shone at in my school days!
I love History, The National Trust and English Heritage I haved worked for, well for my uncle Robert Weller, who is a Brick-Doctor ? This being someone whom knows the craft of building over the centuries and is employed by The National Trust in taking out a contract of work restoring many a different kinds of property, bricks and molter had too be precise , in decade and century we were working in. . .Sounds like Doctor Who!!. . . I only worked when I was asked by my uncle for there was no rushing, The National Trust in them days only wanting a spot on job. Exsect to the original craft and too blend in as much as possible, some jobs he and his team of different trades men worked on for three or four years, me only being called on now and again, for I had no skill eccept mussel in them days and would willingly labor for them, sometimes even packing up the job I already had, so I wouldn't miss out. Yes Dave you would love the land between the Stour and Owell so much Legend here and remember there is always some truth in legend friend? Maybe you have heard mr tell of this before, I know fore sure if King Author ever did walk the lands of Briton and there ever was a Camelot then it was here friend? Look up the Roman name for Colchester , then if you know the story of his legend look where Genavere was rescued from the arms of Saxon invaders, lionness, 12 leges from then the walled town of Camelot, Wrabness in the Celtic tongue translates into lioness and is 17 miles from Colchester-Camulodunum The Earliest Capital of Britain, here reigned Cunobelin King of the Celts of Britain ? Dave you are welcome friend

Mike, that was fascinating. You should make this (and other stuff like it)
into separate posts. Some that have read your initial piece will not return to see this. I don't know much, but I find tales of our kings and queens fascinating. And I love to visit such houses - Sam & I are in both the National Trust and English Heritage - if we're ever coming down your way, I'll drop you a line. We may have to discuss Anne Boleyn in that pub you mentioned. And all his other wives. It may take some time of course.

The road runing along the front of Henry's love nest is named Bowlin!

Inside the Gate entrance carved into the soft redbrick the words ( Linda Linda Anne ) one of the gardeners I got talking too in the local pub in Shotley told me of this, everdently Linda means pretty in French, Anne Bowlin being French this makes sense? The house and grounds are open too the public two or three times ayear. Though this love nest of our Henry is small compared too the other houses scattered along the Suffolk bank of the river Stour. It would seem one of South England's best kept secerts this land, from the common folk that is! Like yours truly for the rich are here in great numbers. It is well worth a look Dave, push bike and tent in the mid summer months, the views are stunning. Of course there is always mine and Tina's humble abode friend!! Good luck to you Sir this New Year

No prob's Dave!
The Land hidden between the two tidel rivers Orwell And Stour is beautiful and full of mystery, along its Sulfolk bank say every two or three miles is a huge house, not quite stately home but big, Henry the 8th had a love nest built in secret. How though I will never know the size of it.  I will post the photo I took. Summer before last here in ten mins, the entrance is stunning and the craft in brick work is worth the look, be right back. . .

Thanks, Mike, for the info. I've never been to that area. Looks a beauty.
I've been to Norfolk, but not Suffolk. And I didn't even know that's where the Stour was, shame on me.
