- Go to Is this the year that Jesus returns?
they don't understand -- it's not Jesus; it's Christ
and Christ coming has nothing to do with a bodily appearance of a man once knows ad Yeshua -- or Joshua, if you please.
those who know Christ will know when Christ has come.
those waiting for a material appearance will never see it.

Success
For some reason, I thought he was coming in 1990. Guess what? I was wrong! The only "feelings" I get about the year 2007 is that it will be better for me than 2006! And I'm excited about getting on with the business of it all!

Saul, wouldn't that be a bit upsetting to people?
If Jesus was gunned down by a vigilante while trying to cross the border.

Yeah, shame on you if you need the threat of Jesus' return to get you to
act like a decent human being. Threaten me with Jesus and I'll call Immigration and Naturalization. No way he's getting in the country illegally -- oh, wait. Who's am I kidding? There's already 20 million illegals in the country. They couldn't stop those guys, who's to stop the son of god? OH, OH, I know!! The Minutemen!

What Gome said
Just to add my own two cents' worth on this topic, even those who take the Bible seriously shouldn't be out there saying that Jesus will definitely come this year or on a certain date at a certain time. Jesus Himself said that "no man knoweth" when He comes. Therefore, it isn't up to us to predict that He will return on a certain date.
Having said that, I share your opinion - if we use Jesus' imminent return to clean up our respective acts (believing that He will judge us based on our behavior when He comes back), that's what my father would call a pee-poor excuse to do so. How about behaving ethically solely because it's the right thing to do?

SuccessWarrior - I wonder how many times in history the question you pose
in this blog title has been asked?
It must be countless times and in past centuries many groups of people have actually believed that whatever era they were from was the one where Jesus would return. It is a pretty slick con when you think about it, with its effectiveness just now starting to wane . . . but not completely. Our collective knowledge as a species and our access to education and information doesn't seem to stop the pre-tribbers from promoting their lunacy.

Yikes! That's too confusing.
How about most preachers don't really know what the truth is?

Go a bit deeper, Warrior...
If all preachers are liers, and the speaker is a preacher, then he is lying, but if he is lying when he says that all preachers are liers, then all preachers tell the truth, and so on, and so on...
