Grail,
My other animals are having a hard time coping also. They know their sister left and did not come home.

That part was almost as bad as my own grief - Charlie grieved so badly that I finally had to take him to the vet. He was terribly depressed, and developed all kinds of vague, undiagnosed illnesses...And they didn't really even like each other!

TAPS,
I hope you both have a lot of years left. Cats are just wonderful creatures. They add so much to life, as do dogs.

Grail,
I know what you mean. It would be tougher, but The Herd makes it better. I might add they are all pretty sad too. They know their sister left and did not come home.

Would you believe that I have never really connected with a cat until out of necessity Pitiful became my live in a year and a half ago.   I had doubts about whether or not we would make a go of it and I'm sure she had her doubts about me.  But, we have so bonded that we can read each other's thoughts and actions.  I'm not sure that I could go back to life without her or the other way around.   With her 14 years old and me 70 on my next birthday, I think its going to be a race to the finish line.

I know how you feel. I actually had to have my friends rearrange my furniture the night I had Montana put to sleep. I couldn't bear to look where he had made his "home," under the dining room table in his last days.  It's great that you have so many other animals still around. It helps us to stay among the living knowing that they are still counting on us for everything.

Thanks offbeats!
It was sad when I got home and no Annabelle. Of course, the other seven animals we had were all waiting, not so patiently, while they starved.

Thanks for the read and comment afzal,
It's going to be very sad walking in our house this afternoon and not having my baby there. We do have seven more that will be waiting though, all starving.
