Wow, can't tell you how often I've pondered this one! All religions are beautiful and most of them are quite similar to beat! I agree with Bandanafish, a lot of it is human nature, unfortunately. Plus, religion is too often used as an
excuse to play the big Control Game.
Religion is actually a really big pretty, shiny shield that people like to hide behind, you know? If there's one thing that really gets my undies in a bunch (don't know if I'm allowed to use fouler language on someone else's blog!!), it's when people tell me that I'm going to hell for not believing in God. Since when does religion define the quality of a person's soul? Your actions are what count! I like the idea of Karma. What goes around comes around and bites you in the #$%#. Maybe if people would own up to their actions and personal motives more they'd get along better. But that big shiny shield is sooo convenient...! (By the way, I'm not knocking religion but the way it's too often been misused.)
I honestly don't think that mankind will ever reach a point when they stop trying to convert "the other heathens and non-believers". It'd be nice if they'd be a little more decent about it, though.
