Happy New Year.  Have you ever thought about writing about your military experiences or environmental issues, etc., the things you really care about most and know the most about, and intersperse your poetry on these subjects?  When I read your fiction, I feel like Prof. Behr in Little Women needing to tell Jo to write what she knows and loves, not what she thinks others want to read.  Just a thought I've had since reading some of your fiction writing.

To write, one must read... Have you read Rainier Maria Rilke?
He lived from 1875-1925, died of leukemia, and wrote beauty. My blogs of yesterday describe him -- under "Fiction" Blackmare Stories is one of his short poems. I don't know why I'd never heard of this poet before -- don't remember hearing about him in any english lit / poetry classes.  Keep writing.
