I can totally relate to you pertaining to it taking it forever for you to fall asleep. A acquaintance of mine gave me a wonderful piece of advice to kick insomnia. When you go to bed, turn on the television. Make sure it is tuned into something that you're NOT going to enjoy too much.
Whenever I have problems falling asleep, I do this. And, it works well.

I can fall asleep just about anywhere, but unless I'm sleeping at my house or my mother's house I usually end up waking through the night and tossing and turning. I don't like taking sleeping pills either so I just switch positions and try my best to get back to sleep.

I also became a very light sleeper after becoming a mother... I suppose
it is mothers instincts. Every little thing wakes me up. On the other hand, Mr T sleeps like a rock.. a bomb will explode next to him and he will not wake up.. LOL! Happy New Year to you and your family, all the best for 2007. I will catch up on you in Feb 2007. Take care!

I'm a pretty light sleeper. At least until the alarm goes off.

I sleep best at home
I tend to wake up many times if I am someplace else.

No problems! You can try aromatherapy medicated cream or oils.

SYMPHONY, I am a very light sleeper..if the cat jumps off the bed, I wake
up..and the only place I can fall asleep is in my own comfy bed..I have to bring my own pillows when we go anywhere overnight (the bed's too big.

Symph...
I can sleep sitting up lol. However it takes me a long time to get that tired. I rely on benadryl sometimes! Hugs and Have a Happy New Year!

Hi Symph - I've taken one tablet so far but I've got more if I need them.
It worked really well, but I imagine if I took them every night they wouldn't work as well - same is true of most drugs - and you'd become addicted. My solution - only possible if you haven't got anyone else in the bed with you - is to put the light on and read, or even get up and do something. I once got up and wrote a blog entry in the middle of the night. Why not? It converts the time into something useful, rather than just frustrating dead time. You can't fight that brain when it refuses to shut down, and it often does, even when the body is seriously knackered from cumulative lack of sleep. But you can avoid the boredom and stress of lying there doing nothing and getting no sleep. You could write a novel!!

Nope it takes drugs to put this girl down for the count..My brain will not shut down on it's own.. I will say that out of the last 20 years of chronic insomnia this last year I have actually had about 10 natural nights of sleep. It soo sucks..

I feel for you, Love. I'm not one of those people who can sleep easily anywhere. For the most part, I don't sleep well at all, even if I'm here at home...I suppose that's due to my chronic insomnia...lol!!!!
Hope it gets better soon...
