Comments on Satan made me gay

Go to Religion in the Modern WorldAdd a commentGo to Satan made me gay

Just a random thought
When The Village People came out with their hit song, I at first thought their refrain was "Why am I gay?"  And here, so many years later, you answered their question.

BTW, for the record and all that, I am not.  I admire their courage and honesty, at least the ones that aren't just jumping on a bandwagon.  My closet is a considerably less trendy one to come out of with consequences which include being able to drive in certain states.

Gome, to answer your earlier question, I couldn't
get back in under my old account once I'd cancelled my membership.

And it's 'Whinge' because I'm great at complaining.

Moontoad - I love how they pluck a verse right out of the middle of

directions on how to beat your slaves to justify their position. (Leviticus)

It really is sad that human beings are the subject of this contrived disdain, it would be comedy if not for that fact. As far as homosexuality goes, it has to be a naturally occurring phenomena. All reasonable and objective observations lead a person who does not have their mind completely polluted by ancient religious dogma to that conclusion. But in the end the reasons that same sex preference exists do not matter, or at least should not. For any democratic society to exclude, or set conditions for acceptance and the extension of individual human rights based on "why" the individual has their sexual preferences, is an utterly ludicrous concept. ... but ludicrous is what those who have had bible lobotomies do.  BTW . . a belated welcome to Blogit.

Ciel - I agree with that
and this cultural belief is continually subjected to a pressure to maintain it.

Facts

I love how these religious types state being gay is "not natural", "against nature" and so on.  It has long been observed that homosexual activity occurs in many other species of animal other than man...  we just happen to be the only species that have self-righteous evangelists that whinge on and on about it.

And as for it being a "choice" ... they need to do their homework.  Last I read they'd found six genetic markers ... it is totally nature, not nurture.

But the Bible says gay people are going to Hell or whatever.  Well, maybe.  But it also says you're going to hell if you've ever eaten shellfish.  It seems that just above Judas on Level 13 there's a level full of tortured souls who were into Clam Chowder.

But it's pointless trying to have a rational debate about this subject with these people.  Scientific proof means nothing to them.  They do, after all, believe in the 2000 year old ramblings - most of which have been shown to be either deliberate fabrication or accidental mistranslation.

Some cultures recognize 4 human genders.
The Christian definition of natural, in other words, is cultural.

Whinge - a belated welcome to Blogit
It only stands to reason doesn't it? Who would choose a lifetime of what gay folks are subjected to? It doesn't matter to me if they ever understand the cause of same sex preference, I refuse to be a party to proliferating the societal ostracism that these people face.

I don't blame Satan for making my brother gay, my mother's much
more the cause!

Seriously though, it's way biological, even my brother says, if he had a choice in it, he would've chosen an easier life for himself.  Though there was a very persistent Swedish bird that pretty much tried to molest him in to thinking otherwise.  If I'd have told her the story about how he'd screamed & roared in the toy shop as a toddler for a 'My Little Pony' I think she might've backed down a little.

Er, don't you read the papers?

"SATAN BUYS JAPAN AT FIRESALE PRICE! FED CRIES FOUL! DOLLAR SLUMPS AGAINST YEN!"

New York Times, that was. Day before yesterday. Get with it man!

ariel70 - I'd bet that Satan doesn't even care
After inventing alcohol, drugs, prostitution and gambling, he literally has more money than God. He could buy Japan and pay cash.

TVBlogger - I'm familiar with him only in snapshot form -
I saw him interviewed by Larry King. It is amazing how mainstream society reacts to such things but in an attempt to understand it we must consider the interests of all parties. A sponsoring company selling a product as a means of determining return on investment looks at this type of controversy through a set of different lenses. Maybe rightfully so, at least from the perspective of investors, the gay community represents a maximum of about 5% of the populace. The nature of the controversy in this instance, though it may be still be surprising to us, has the ability to make smart money flee (as do a host of other controversial issues). The fight to change this therefore will remain amongst societal initiatives and will not be found in the corporate world.

Why, before you know it he'll be blamed for the scourge of blogging too. One could almost feel sorry for the guy.

Hedging my bets, see. I mean, one never knows, eh?

Have you see "One Punk Under God"?
It's a "series" on A&E or maybe IFC.  It's Jim and Tammy Bakker's son Jamie now going by Jay.  He went through major rebellion and has come back around but now with the attitude of "we must seperate Christian tradition from Jesus' actual teachings."  He preaches out of a bar, makes no judgements on what anyone believes and simply tries to teach people how to emulate the life of Jesus.  He's an interesting character.  Anyway, he came out recently as saying the judgments of homosexuality as a sin are Christian tradition and not biblical.  It was amazing to see how many sponsors disappeared and how his funding dried up.  It seems to the Christians that all the other good he was doing was less important than this one view.  Ridiculous.
