Jo - hi, sorry if you asked this a long time ago.
No, I'm still waiting for the manufacturer or the supplier to agree to send me the CD or CDs that should have come with it in the first place. I can't see it being sorted out till some tiime in January. Well it'll keep me busy doing other things instead of messing around with the webcam, i spose. What's an extra week or so?

Tony, regrettably, a lot of tech support companies don't do external calls
but if they do have an email facility for queries then that sounds promising.
I really haven't a clue about PC's, I'm Apple all the way & the two are like Italian & Spanish to me, sounding vaguely similar, but not the same thing at all.
Best of luck with it.

Gosh, thanks Whinge for taking so much trouble.
I have done that, but it just doesn't work like they say it should. My computer can't seem to open the file once it's downloaded. I've got back to the manufacturer, but they haven't got back to me. For some reason it won't open the .dll file, even though there are numerous .dll files doing absolutely nothing in the Video section of My Computer. This is why i wish i could speak to them on the phone. I gave them my number but they won't ring me, it seems. I'm awaiting their next words of wisdom. It's made worse by My Computer seemingly not having an external mike facility, altho there is a jack on the side of the dell computer itself. I'll sort it eventually, I hope. (We're straying from poetry a little here, but who cares?

Yes, Troosha - but the way the gizmo-sellers operate doesn't help!
They never seem to have manned helplines on the telephone. Who do I ask - Microsoft, Dell computers, the sellers of the equipment I just bought - or all three? And none of them are easily available to ask. Why do Microsoft rely on forums - why don't they just tell you the answer? Are they short of money??!

Tony, go to the manufacturer's website for both, go to their U.K. support
page, go to downloads (all divided by model number) & you should be able to download the individual 'drivers/software' (same software as will be on CD) for both your webcam & headset.
They should download an icon to the desktop which upon clicking should give you the installer instructions.
Also, just make doubly sure, by checking on the pack your headset & webcam came in, that you have the correct version of Windows/Microsoft they require & your computer has the hardware capabilities listed on the pack. Tech support will ask you all this when they get back to you if they already haven't.
Lastly, if the above is correct, you've downloaded the software, disconnect everything else from your computer bar the power, internet, headset & webcam, do a restart & try to see if you can get them operational.
If after all this, they are not, pester the tech support & tell them you have done the above (they'll make you do it anyway).
If it's all good & they're working, re-attach your other peripherals (printer, scanner etc...) & check that everything works together.
Believe me, I know the drill, I used to be an Apple techie.

Sounds like the score is Technology and gizmos 5, Tony 2. Gismos have a way of winning (but only in the short term). Hang in there.

Hi Bud
Half the time - no, most of the time, you can't ring them - you have to read endless screens of text that doesn't adress the problem, and then if you're lucky you can email them, and then they can take days to answer in some cases, and then they refer you to the Help link which you've already read!

did not you find a CD for the software in the package???
I find that very strange, it took all of five minutes to install my CD. (making you feel stink, saying that...) It is best to buy a product that you can physically see rather than order from the net or whatever. So, did you have any luck? sorry about all that frustration. I am no great techno expert but I just bumble along out of sheer necessity, or i call on my nerdy neighbours. I wish I could help, let me know if I can do anything.

Yes - 'woe' could have been used in the sonnet, as well as 'foe', Bhaskar!

Thanks Afzal. Still no solution in sight. Why don't they just agree to
send the CD? Even though it will take days to arrive, it would be better than this torture.
