But you know that I would happily (why did I choke as I typed that word, I wonder?) split the 10K with my wonderful daughter, don't you FactorFiction?

Hmmm, go for it!
However, she will be really PO'd if you make 10K and she has to pay the US taxes on it.

TAPS
I think I agree with you TAPS.  How on earth can anyone make a living at writing articles?  In the past, I've written about things that amused me and if I thought the article was good enough I would send it in to a magazine or newspaper.  It hurt my ego if it didn't get published, but it didn't mean I couldn't pay my bills.   It would frighten the hell out of me if I HAD to do it for a living.

And bloggers quite often are asking me why I don't try to get published.  From everything I've read on Blogit, I'm not quite sure its worth the effort.

I'll keep that in mind, bel.  The categories are confusing.  One of my articles they published was a humorous one about the village of Bountiful in BC where they practice polygamy.  I couldn't find it anywhere under humorous - it was under 'Local' as if it was a travel article.  Bountiful should now be getting lots of tourists.

LOL! I think it was Pat who made that comment

but who knows, I forget half of what I do let alone what I say.

It depends on the editor who gets your article.  Leah is great, some are just lousy.  Watch the catagory you submit to and you will find there is a common thread with the offers.
