The Neverending Story has a very Mosaic view
As in Moses, for whom God is the Being that simply is, "I am that I am". The opposite of Being is, of course, nothingness, or "The Nothing" as TNS has it. Writing the neverending story is an act of creation which we need to participate in. That last also has a similarity to John and elsewhere in the NT where Christ, as The Word, is the means of creation and we, if we follow the call to also be children of God as Christ is, are also the means of creation, the furtherance of Being. A friend of mine calls it Buddhist, but I am not really up on that religion so will have to defer.

I love "The Never Ending Story." I am not much for cartoons, fantasy or watching a movie more then once, but I watched this one again last Christmas Eve with Hubby and one of my sons. I also watched 2 & 3, but I enjoyed the first one best. I loved the sound affects and the imagery. Wow, what an imagination.

Re Never Ending Story...
I can understand why the horse didn't want to go through that experience. The whole scene upset me since I love animals and any time an animal is hurt, I get upset. I just rented the first sequel and I haven't had a chance to watch it. Hopefully, it will be okay. I've heard that none of the sequels are as good as the original, though. I am looking forward to seeing how they handle the second film. I'll write something after I see it.

never-ending story
Saw this movie years ago with all my kids, who loved it (much more than the sequels.) If I remember rightly this is the one where the horse sinks into the bog and has to be rescued. Apparently the poor horse was very frightened when they sunk him into the 'bog' on the set, and it took quite a bit of persuading to get him to stay there. I also remember that it was a film that made some imaginative use of sound: at one point a huge bird flew up out of the top of the picture, and we heard the sound up over our heads. My youngest son looked up and around behind him, trying to see where the bird went!
