Factorfiction, I agree with you 100%
I wonder what kind of drug regimine they've got Laura on to keep her eyeballs plastered wide open and that empty, toothy grin smeared across her face? She always looks like a deer caught in the headlights to me, a woman way out of her element.

Plaid PJ's, It's timely that you bring up Betty Ford. Her history
has been a focus of recent news stories given Gerald's death, and deservedly so. In retrospect I see her as an incredibly brave woman, willing to make her private life public in the name of transparency and honesty. This has benefited many people.

Whacky, that's a great idea and I think there was a movie
about that just a few years ago...But I think Americans have this 1950's style idea of "family" so engrained in the myth of AMERICA that a single person will NEVER be elected to run this country.

Presley, I would have agreed with you until I saw how well
Hillary slipped into the role of being a senator from NY. She has been a real fighter for the things that matter to New Yorkers and has fought for health care for the folks who are suffering from the negative effects of having worked at ground zero.

Those Bush wives...
(picture me sticking finger down throat, not something I have ever actually done when conversing, I think...)
Those women as "First Ladies" should be revolting to the liberated, intelligent self-sufficient woman of today. I can't for the life of me see why anyone under the age of ummm 60? or so would not find the whole "good ol' boy," "fifties housewife," "faithful companion" routine to be totally offensive. If you judge the husband purely by the role and type of the woman he marries....this is what a Western woman of 2007 elects?
(donning flame retardant pjs in case anyone reads this...)

the decision makers
what about Betty Ford??? I like the way she did the Betty Ford clinic and the breast cancer battle that she survived.
I love the first wives....because they are really the decision makers. What about ol Nancy Reagan????...and using the vodoo cards to help direct the white house??? loved it.
..and I too liked Hillary when she was the working woman who rose above the hog wash of her lame hubby...but if she runs for President under the "everybody's Mom" theory..... then fogeddddaboutit. I DO NOT want Bill as the first wife. Unless, he can help cover for Hillary when she gets a little strange on the side. I think she needs some strange. She needs to mess up her hair a bit.

I told peple Hillary ought to have run instead of Bill
I don't care about the First Lady so long as she doesn't act like Billy Carter or give the President's politcal opponents fuel for their smokescreens.
When a president gets more tsuris over a pattern of sexual pecadillos versus a president suborning a presidential election, something's wrong.

I like the personal side of Hillary Clinton much more than the political side. Despite Bill's personal garbage with Monica, I must say that the majority of people I know at a personal level were in a much better state when he was in office as compared to Bush. I know I was in a better state financially and in the longevity of employment.
I'm keeping my eye on Obama and his wife!

In regard to respecting the First Lady or potential of being First Man...that's a tough call!
