but -- Roosevelt
depended upon the military for directing the war.

he was commander in chief -- however, any CIC or CEO worth his/her salt will utilize "advise and consent", receiving intelligence from the upper tier of officers, and then making a decision based on their recommendations.

and i do believe the U.S. should have a united strategy -- the best strategy, not a second best.  the generals, etc. are telling us that Bush's strategy is not working.

My take on the situation is that Bush et al decided to invade Iraq without really determining the consequences.  I would suppose that it was mainly Hussein's threat to Israel that initiated the invasion.

we are waging WWII type wars, with superior technology; however, that isn't working here or in Afghanistan.  There is not definite front; there are no consolidated forces in opposition, as had existed in most wars over the past several centuries.

<>The U.S. is fighting the wrong type of war there, and is not looking at the big picture.  this can engage the U.S. in a decades long war that can harm the U.S. greatly.

Bush thought that the war was against Saddam and the official armed forces of Iraq.  Now, though, it has become an entirely different animal, whose tail the U.S. has grabbed and cannot let go of without disastrous consequences.
