I think it is because you gave America an identity
based upon politicians and a few morons. Some of us are actually fairly intelligent and most of us (I think) can't stand the majority of our politicians. But, it is a very diverse country, so odds are there will be many different politicians we hate and for varied reasons.

Well, my son is a descendent of the original Mayflower voyage.  The survivors of that group turned out to be mostly children, with just enough mommies and babysitters to keep them believing that everything was going to be alright. Fifty people survived.  Children don't lose hope as quickly as adults do, especially men.  I'm sure that when the men stepped off the boat in their tattered underwear and saw wild Indians, they lost hope pretty fast.

To be the descendent of a group of people escaping persecution in another land, the USA is merely a land of innovative, orphaned smart alecks giving the shove off motion to Europe.  I don't think they ever claimed to be pure bred.  I don't think they ever claimed to be lacking in cultural sophistication.  In fact, now that we have world wide communications, the Mayflower orphans of yesteryear have access to new forms of education, and perhaps an opportunity to learn a few things that might grow them up a little.

Nevertheless, feed the birds, tuppins a bag, still works for me.
