They'll learn the words, no matter how you monitor their TV viewing...
The secret is to know when it's ok and when it's NOT ok to use them. Some people never learn that little trick. :) BTW, I detest Barney, even if he is purple.

It's interesting that the two of you bring up Barney
My 23-year-old daughter can't stand Barney - never could. Most PBS children's programming went right past her when it was age-appropriate for her, even Sesame Street. For her, it was MTV; she had certain favorite videos, but there were other music videos (like certain Madonna videos, and anything by Billy Idol, whose videos I had real problems with) I wouldn't let her see. Believe me, when those videos came on, I pulled out the remote and changed the channel ASAP.

While it's possible for him to pick up the word from the movie, chances are he'll never even notice it unless you guys do something to tip him off. I hold similar sentiments concerning Curious George. And plus, don't mention Barney and friends.
