I have been outspoken against Robert Gates' appointment from the moment I heard Rumsfeld was "stepping down".  The chaos and short-sightedness in the White House is infecting the world and Gates' statement is a chilling spectre of what the next two years hold for not only the USA but the world.

Regarding your first comment. I couldn't agree with you more. There's nothing left to be won for anybody. Republicans can dispute the Vietnam analogy if they want, but the proof is now there for everybody to see...

It should, GEPRUITT. Generally, you can count on it getting a 100%
return on the investment, especially when the investment attracts somone's "two cents worth".

Not here, afzal. Not now. There's nothing to be won in this fiasco. What
could have been won was squandered in the incompetence and mismanagement of Iraq in the aftermath...
