All it takes is about 5 seconds in the mall and I am done! That is most certainly NOT the spirit of Christmas that is the spirit of the almighty dollar!
I've always had trouble with the holidays because growing up I always knew there would be a huge blow up and in many ways it followed me to adult life. Hell, my anniversary is Christmas day and I still would prefer to bypass the holiday!

I used to looooove holidays. LOVE them.
Too many bad ones and one really, really bad December, now that I finally have my husband to start over and have a good one with... I just can't seem to find the spirit. We have to move the day after Christmas and two days after that he has to go to Colorado do pick up his brother who'll be living with us. I love that kid, but it's so much at once. Eddie had to drag me out to get a tree... now we have to get stuff to decorate it. The cats love it, because I've never had one with them (always either alone our out of town) and my one kitty Petie is just sleeping under it... so cute. Tomorrow when he gets dressed for work and is getting his keys and wallet on the counter by the tree I'll say, "Baby, we're you'd go? I can't seeee you!" Christmas tree camouflage, ha ha. Okay, I digressed. Anyway, I think it will take a while for me to really come back, but, at this this is a start. I love "It's a Wonderful Life" and "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" (the cartoon)... but if I go in the mall, I might get homicidal! I never leave short comments. :)

My favorite Christmas movie is probably not even considered a Christmas movie because there is only a very small part about Christmas. But, it sure makes me feel good at Christmas time. Have you ever seen,
Our Vines Have Tender Grapes (1945)?

I KNOW i don't like the tone of it. And, I've never been a Gavin McLoud fan (or however you spell his name.)

It's a Wonderful Life has great stuff--
most notably when George and Clarence get kicked out of the bar. And my favorite part of that movie is the revelation that, of all the evils created by George never having been born -- and this includes the horrible childhood death of his brother, the drunk druggist poisoning children, his own mother not even recognizing him, his uncle put in a mental institution after he lost the building and loan, and the whole town generally gone to hell -- the most horrible evil of all is that because George wasn't born, Mary becomes a bespectacled, tweed clad, frumpy, old maid librarian who keeps cats.
Now tell me that ain't high comedy!

You might be in the mood for "Bad Santa," but it's not PG rated. --
it's kind of like Animal House in red fur and tinsel. Definitely not "A Wonderful Life."

This time of the year doesn't really bother me. With no children, it's easy to avoid the whole Christmas hub-bub. Because of the cats, we don't even put up a tree. I stay far away from malls and turn off the TV and it's like the frenzy doesn't exist.

Some people go absolutely bonkers over Christmas - baking , shop0ping, decorating, humming Christmas tunes, etc. and there are other, such as yourself, who find it a difficult time of year. I keep it simple but would say I'm driven primarily by the meaning of Christmas - not all its trimmings.

I don't care for either movie either! A good Christmas movie to me is the original Home Alone, Elf, and A Christmas Story. I'm not big on the mooshy, gooshy ones!
They will be running A Christmas Story for 24 hours straight on TNT starting Christmas Eve! Maybe you can catch it then!
