Hi Corbin. In the Episcopal Church year, the 12 days from Dec.25 to Jan 5
are the Twelve Days of Christmas. These 12 days between Christmas Day and Epiphany, which is actually celebrated the next day Jan 6,are the days during which the Magi traveled seeking the Christchild. On Jan 6, Epiphany, gifts are given emulating the Magi bringing gifts to the baby Jesus. In some traditions, the Twelve Days begin on 26 Jan.

Thanks for these wonderful Christmas posts...I am enjoying them immensely.

Corbin
very interesting. Actually, I was familiar with the interpretation of the 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', but had never heard of the second one at all...not surprising in my case, I guess...

I've researched a little, too- --

Um...I think you missed a few days.....

The way Shelly and Offbeat sing it, it's the 14 Days of Christmas...Can't we make up something for those other 2 days?

PS-thanks for the history lesson...it was interesting.

cool..makes me think of pretzels and candy canes..
I don't remember all the details.. but from what I recall.. candy canes represent Christ  .. the hook shape as He is the Shepherd, white for purity, red stripes for our sin, three stripe for the trinity. The folded arms of  Pretzels are a reminder to pray. If I am remembering this stuff correctly.....

I was not one of the people trying to sing this song

While the story is nice and all, I still find the song as annoying as the movie it's a wonderful life.

I was singing I want a hippopotamus for Christmas and well....Passion kind of put me on the naughty list for that!
