I got a Monkees drum set when I was about 3.
I don't remember this, but I am told I nearly cut my head off with the crash cymbal a few days later.

it had to be the surprise party on my 18th birthday....
I hate surprises and attention.... but my parents gave me a car that day (one that wouldn't break down)... shocked me completely.  It was also the last birthday that I spent at home while my father was alive.   It was a special day for sure.

I love wildflowers...especially Queen Ann's Lace. On the first trip Max
and I took together, he suddenly pulled the car over on the side of the road. He told me he needed to check the engine; he thought he had heard a noise. When he lowered the hood, and came back to the car door, he leaned in with a huge bouquet of Queen Ann's Lace...it was growing on both sides of the road. The wildflowers have long since faded, but that memory of pure romance will never fade...I've never received any gift that made me happier.

It wasn't a Christmas gift
it was the birthday cake for my 31st birthday.  Carl knew I had not had a cake since my 19th and he went out and got me a cake with a plastic Taz on it.  Taz still sits on the top of my jewelry box.

I was attemping to get a girl to slow dance with me

In fact she told me earlier to come and ask her. Well, when I got there she told me no, right in front of everyone there. I was embarrassed as can be, and I was looking for some help.

Next thing you know this girl said to me, ..."hey, I'll dance with you..". By time we were done dancing we were both very much in love.

That was a gift I'll never forget!
