It is something in human nature to never leave it alone. They like to add fuel into the fire.

bel_1965 - that is very well put and exactly how I view it
"I see the Bible as MAN's interpretation of what they think God should say."
I find it incredible that people can still buy into the idea of virgin birth. The notion itself was derived from how human sexuality and the subjegated role of women were viewed in ancient times. It was a myth used in countless messiah story renderings throughout countless cultures prior to and after the birth of Jesus. Everyone over the age of 9 should have an idea where babies really come from.

Interesting conversation
While I do have belief in God, I tend to annoy people because I refuse to accept the bible as GOSPEL! I saw something on TV last night about the Virgin Birth. Mark and Luke are rather adamant about the Virgin birth yet Matthew which had been written many years before never even brings it up. One would think that something so "miraculous" would be addressed by all.
I see the Bible as MAN's interpretation of what they think God should say.

Sunnybeach7 - certainly not bored but needing to examine what I allow to
occupy my time.
Enagaging an individual in dialogue who is intent on discrediting me to prove an opinion that they have arrived at with misinformation and circuituous logic, is not a good use of my time.

David1Spirit - insults or cold hard truths are "gifts" that are much easier
to give than receive.
This is simply a part of human nature but a foible that should be overcome to a great extent with maturity. I've seen some people on Blogit that routinely say and do things to others that they would not stand for a minute if they were on the receiving end. Some of these religious folks just don't get it. They think that their beliefs extend to them extra priviledges above and beyond those who do not share their beliefs.

That's the way it is with most of the "antagonists" around here gome
But it's also the same everywhere else too.
I have made a point of throwing the words of the Bible right back at those who throw them at me first.
I find it very funny how they quote phrases as the "absolute literal word of God" when it fits in with their argument; only to tell me the complete opposite when I use quotes to back up mine.
They want it both ways I think. Or better still, they want it THEIR way! And there is just no way (or point) into trying to talk to them.
