Illegal retention of security or caution money .
Lustorlove,

Here is A model form of the notice which you are required to send to your landlord seeking immediate refund of the security deposit which you had paid to your landlord . Please also find out the local laws of the tenancy there as is prevalent in your state . You can check in some site or buy a book of local act governing incidence of tenancy laws . However ,I am just sending you a short format of notice which you can modify according to your need and requirement.

Dear sir, Re : My occupancy (give detail of your occupancy)

You are fully aware that I have vacated your house which I was occupying as a leasee ( or replace by a word which is usually used for a rented accomdation in your state) on which was satisfactorily received by you .

I am however surprised that you have still not bothered to refund my security depost which you are retaining illegally and for no valid reason .

I therefor request you to kindly refund the sum of ..........US$ kept with you towards security/caution money for my occupancy in your said premised within 24 hours failing which I shall have no option but to seek appropriate legal advise on the point or issue involved and you shall be liable for all costs and consequences which please note .

Yours faithfully

I would sue my landlord and ask the court to appoint a
commissioner to assess the claim of the landlord and seek refund of the balance forthwith or seek interest for the period of days more than due to return the money which the landlord ought to have returned .Kindly post agreement if any which you must have entered into at the time of entering into possesssion for further advise . I shall be glad to help you in the matter .
