'Also lump Mel Gibson in this group. His father is a holocaust denier, too.'

This statement should be framed, put on all classroom walls, and shown to students prior to studying the actions of the House Un-American Activities Committee...

Yeah, I'm absurd...

And blaming "the Jews" (as if we're one, amorphous group) for all the wars fought in history is sane? I'm not saying you should call your dad on the carpet for proposing a playoff system for college football or believing the magic bullet explanation for the Kennedy assasination.  But when your dad is a holocaust denier AND you produce/direct a hate-filled S&M bloodbath like "The Passion of the Christ" AND you lash out at a police officer who happens to be Jewish (and probably saved your loathesome hide) then yes, you should announce publicly whether you believe the Holocaust "really happened".

As for Buchanan's comments, I think they are covered in depth by Alan Dershowitz in his book "Chutzpah".  Just like I won't give some people the "click", I'm not going to spend my limited time reading Buchanan's diatribe.  If someone would like to correct me, I would appreciate the update.  But absent that...

I've never publicly disagreed with my father either, but that doesn't mean I embrace all his views. Your position on Mel Gibson is absurd...

Add Pat Buchanan to this list...

Every now and then, while watching "The McGalughlin Group", I surprise myself by agreeing with something Buchanan says.  Then I remind myself that in one of his books (I read about it, not the actual book) he claimed that the Holocaust was "exaggerated" and there was no way, logistically, that the Nazis could have exterminated 12 million people; he even "showed his work" as they say in high school math class; 500 people per incinerator, 24 hours per day, etc., etc.  It was macabre.  So what if he's right?  Is the genocide of 6 million less reprehensible than that of 12? Is 3 million innocent men, women and children where you draw the line? 2 million is OK, but 3 million is excessive? One shudders.

Also lump Mel Gibson in this group.  HIs father is a holocaust denier, too.  While Mel has never stated such an outlandish opinion, neither has he publicly disagreed with his father either.  And we know the opinions he keeps hidden until the Tequila loosens his lips.

It's not just "crazy Arabs" (or in this case, Persians) who believe this hores hockey.
