Comments on Santa Shot Jesus out of the Saddle???

Go to If I get smart with you....how will you know?Add a commentGo to Santa Shot Jesus out of the Saddle???

It is not, in any way, a protest against Christianity.
And none of this has anything to do with that.......It's strictly pertaining to the act....and if the act in itself offends....and was that the purpose of the act?  He is doing just like PETA when they had the disgusting comic books..."Your Daddy is  a Killer".  It was aimed at being as offensive as possible.......as was this.......

But at least it did give you a chance to take a shot at ignorant Christians.......

It's Quite...
...funny.

But with a serious message. As individuals, we want more 'stuff' this year than we had last year, and so on and on and on. Nations aim for the same thing - constant GDP growth is what every country is looking for.

On both counts, constant growth = infinite growth.

And no one has yet explained to me how infinite growth can work on a finite planet.

This is, as someone else clarified, a protest against consumerism and the link to environmental degredation. It is not, in any way, a protest against Christianity. It never fails to amaze me how narrow-minded Christians can be when confronted with a challenging image. Are they suggesting that Jesus was the only person in history to be crucified??

I would be and am offended. I don't believe this man has a real concern about Christmas as much as he has for getting attention. Santa on the cross is not a representation of Salvation. If he were next door to me I would present him with the news of real Salvation then I would ask him to remove it. If he did not. I would pray for him until it fell.

Corbin, Not particularly offensive, but not really art.
I suppose I wouldn't react.

I find this tacky and distasteful...I imagine Ozzie would have hang upside
down.

although it's really not a big deal, it is tacky and offensive, and moreover, it isn't even intelligent. I find it ludicrous that this guy (a Canadian, yet!) calls himself an 'artist'! I hope he has better work to show to support that claim! I can throw tacky and offensive stuff together all day without even putting my mind to it, but I still would blush if I called myself an 'artist'. I hope...

How about this question......
What about the impact on small children?

Hmmm...It's interesting. I'm not sure what my reaction would be.

I think it's....
hard for someone driving down the street to realize his intent was a statement on the commercialization of Christmas........and actually, that's not what he actually is talking about.....

When you click on the link and see the full story you'll see a quote:

But the final straw was looking at a report on CNN which said we will have effectively fished out the ocean. And I thought 'Oh Jesus. We're suffocating the goose that lays the natural egg. We have to stop the orgy of consumption."

It's actually an environmental statement....and that make it more like what Bel said....

An intent to offend....almost in PETA-esque fashion...to outrage, to offend, for the most publicity.......

I think if it were in my neighbors yard the other neighbors would probably hang the person who did it...It is bad taste, tacky and offensive. They are other ways to protest...such as why doesn't Mr. Wright just not shop?

I think you hit the nail on the head......
"done with intent to offend".......

posted by Corbin_Dallas on December 8, 2006 at 5:29 PM | link to this | reply

I can be open minded about many things
but I believe this was done with intent to offend and at least for me, the purpose has been served.  I find it offensive.
