Comments on Jury Duty a Citizens Obligation

Sally,

It seems the Judges rule high in the arrangements of the Court so, there probably are some different rules.  We were told if the Judge wanted to work on Christmas Day we may have to be there.  Then the Deputy said, I don't think that ever happened.  What a relief.

Very nice...I just went through that a couple months ago and we didn't get any kind of letter...

Taps

I hope the rest of my "time to serve Jury duty " will be as easy. The holidays may slow up the system.

Thanks,

Lou

Cameraeye, same thing happened to me last time I was summoned.  I don't remember a speech by the judge though.  That was nice.

Hi Mademoiselle

You make an interesting comment and I don't know where your friend's Jury Duty was to be served, but I was in the Circuit Court system and the Deputy Sheriff told us if we fail to respond we could be cited with a "Show Cause" which is an official demand to come before the judge and say why we did not show up. Under certain circumstances a person could be arrested.

I guess your friend might have just been lucky.

I probably shouldn't say this, but ...

one time, my boyfriend got a summons for jury duty, and he just ripped the card up, and threw it in the trash. (Or, so he claims.)

I was hoping he'd be arrested, but nothing ever happened to him.

When you go in for a job interview,
I think a good thing to ask is
if they ever press charges.
