That's odd...
The majority (if not all) of the shifting mechanism is internal, and should be bathed in transmission fluid constantly. One thing about my dirt bike, when the tranny oil needs changing, (this is a two-stroke) it starts missing shifts and shifting hard. With a four-stroke, that shouldn't really be a problem. You might consider running a synthetic oil, that will make it shift like butter, but since you have a wet clutch ( at least you should, I think) make sure it is the right stuff. The gal at Suzuki should have the answer to that.
