ihave, I do have a problem with the court forcing a man to pay child
support for a child who is neither biologically "his own seed" as Solowriter so poetically put it, nor adopted, so that he is forced to take on a financial burden for a child he may not have any contact with or have any paternal authority over.
As in the kids are probably all saying,"You're not my dad why should I have to listen to you.." as they do (where do they get that script from?) and the mother and he long since split up, I've seen it happen to men I know and it is just wrong.
Solowriter, I think you're being harsh and a little vindictive here. What ihave said, was that it's not fair for a man who's not the father of a child to be saddled with financial support so that the state doesn't have to pay child support, I'd rather DSHS pay the pittance of $430, or so to the mother, and good luck to her living on that princely sum.

Blanche, you hit on one of the major issues regarding child support. The states are so concerned about not paying out money that they'll go after any available male for support. We see this happening all too often, where a guy who isn't even the biological father, is forced to pay child support. Hard to believe, but very true.

Bizarre, I can foresee all kinds of legalistic mumbo jumbo out of this.
What a twisted country we live in at times, puritanical anti-sex and yet punitive against men as well as women. In Washington state, a court ruled that a man has to pay child support for the children of any woman he has cohabitated with, regardless of paternity, so that the state` does not have to pay DSHS, the mere pittance of $430 or so dollars, the cheap so and sos.
They'd rather saddle a guy with the financial support of some other's guy, regardless of the fairness, regardless of the fact that the kids may not even view him as their dad, for up to 21 years (now college support is even consivdered mandatory, as if going to college were a right to be expected, let them get a job and earn their way through college).
if I were a guy no way would I ever marry or shack up with a woman with kids, the price is just way too high, no wonder there are so many bitter people around.
