I don't believe in fighting a war with no advantage, no trophy at the victory and playing poker tells you when the war is to be folded or hold on to the victory dance. I don't like whinny losers or winners. Fight fair or go home. You know it is the Southern way. Duel at Sunrise! LOL

Justi......
You certainly do have some  "war" wounds don't you.  But you're a tough one! And you certainly know when to draw a line and hold it!

I resent bloggers comparing people to subhumans and animals.  #1 if you compare someone to a subhuman or animal no matter what they've done you get them off the hook because, well, what do you expect they're not human.  #2 you get yourself off the hook.  Why expend the energy to reason with them if they're not human?  I try hard to use the right words.  I don't think I've ever gotten personal attacks on anyone in these blogs, but it is easy to fall into sarcasm.  I have referred to people as butchers and psychopaths, like the terrorists who tortured and murdered the children in that Russian school.  But those terms apply only to human beings.  Only human beings can be butchers and psychopaths.

Some very nice points you make on this well-articulated article. The first and the foremost is reason must prevail, that's why we all are here for, but how to make it do so can be quite another matter. Sometimes it can be an off-hand remark, sometimes cultural differences in the nuances and subtle mreaning of words, and at other, not-meant but said jokingly - one or a combination of these can spark off a fight. One principle I follow is that in case one gets into a tight situation unwittingly, then arguments should be carefully thought out and based more in the nature if response, rather than a reaction. This balance if kept in mind and followed, can and does earn respect even in retrospective results. I am saying all this from personal experience.

Blocking is great luv, works for me. I don't really even entertain a debate with anyone, unless I can learn something from the person.

Usually the troublemakers are those folks with so much to say on a subject, with really no concrete knowledge of what they are writing about.

Blessings luv. Peace.

Amen to both tact and honesty. I lose my tact when my Irish is up, though

Guess I missed a big fight. There are some on here who can be very ugly. How are you doing dear lady? Thank you for stopping by.

I always try to use tact; don't always make it. I do always use honesty to the best of my ability.

Yes I agree that the Nationality is not a factor in mentality. I do not think I need to be telling Brussels how to run their country, nor they us; but on general subjects I see no problem.

Oppressive need to be right simply makes it dull to try to blog with opinions. I miss the free spirit this is meant to have. Thank you for coming by.

Justi, you have balls, lady, and I commend you.  Hate is a terrible thing and I thank you for getting the message out.

Justi, while you were out, a blogger wrote some terrible blogs while under the influence of nerve pills and pain pills.  It only goes to show the mentality of a "user".  If you are interested, email me and I'll tell you who that blogger is and give you some insight.  I believe those blogs are still up if you want some direction.

Thank you for writing this blog.  Maybe some people will get the message.  Hate mongerers are hateful people.

I agree, Justi, I am as appalled at the disrespect and incivility as you
are. My grandmothers raised me better than that.  I need to tend to some personal business, but I thank you for your honesty and tact.

Let's add one
It doesn't matter what nationality you are - your entitled to a voice and an opinion regardless of topic.

Justi, as you know I've not been blogging much either --

so needless to say was blown out of the water when I discovered quite the passive aggressive comment left for me by a certain individual who, it would seem, has also blocked me from sending email.  So I could not address the problem with her in private (which was my preference).  The only way to clear my name (which I did not think needed clearing) was to post a public blog.  Go figure.

Great post!

Thanks I am so sick of the pettiness. I love writing on here. It gets tiresome when there is just pickings all the time. Some have no restraints, others don't care what they call people. That behavior spoils the joy of blogging.

Justi, What a wonderful and courageous post.  The points that you make here are exactly the reason that I try to avoid debates on Blogit.   There is absolutely no control here except for the self-control of the debater himself (Bhaskar.ing and Ariala recently pulled off a nice one.) and things get ugly so quickly.  Good going lady.
