- Go to Remember the true meaning of Christmas
Ben, that is lucky. People in the southern hemisphere
should be celebrating Christmas during the June solstice. That's one the son rises for them.

I wonder...
how southern-hemisphere Christians (from places like Australia and New Zealand) would cope if they knew the truth, that Christmas has northern-hemisphere meanings surrounding light and the lack of it? Unfortunately, not too many people actively want to know the truth about anything.

They probably didn't want to miss out on the celebrating
Instead of Christians continuing to outlaw the Pagan ritual, they joined in, and added their own meaning so that it would be okay.
We see this time and again where religions change their teachings so that their followers won't be sinners.

Good post, SW. I wonder how many people know that the original Protestants
settlers and their descendants in America refused to celebrate Christmas for a couple hundred years because of its papist and pagan roots. Strange how time heals all rifts...

Gome, how are they going to remember the true meaning of Christmas
if they don't know what the true meaning of Christmas is?

SuccessWarrior - You may have whistled this one right over most people's
heads.
At least in terms of casual readers of your blog. You did cover the winter solstice and how the Christmas celebration came about as the adoption of this ancient pagan festival but unless someone has read that post, they may not get this one.
