the Greeks, the Romans and, I'm sure, others too would build tiny flaws into their otherwise perfect buildings, so as not to arouse the envy of the gods! And if they felt really fortunate, they would quickly offer a sacrifice. Maybe you can put a little dent in the wall of a closet, and burn the occasional steak...

yes - i was thoroughly convinced that we would die

Nanaroo, I've encountered those feelings before, but it sounds to me like
