Could've just been someone in a big hurry--
who knows! I used to live on a very busy street, and would often find myself holding my breath when I heard screeching sounds, waiting for the "BAM" of an accident. Sometimes it came and sometimes it didn't.

Whatever the case, Whacky,
I hope they got caught. I can't stand people like that! Especially those teenagers that do it all the time and then bitch about their high insurance costs! (IF they even HAVE insurance!)

If you can manage it, please drop by our blog with an idea for a language theme cartoon. Thanks.

it is easier to hear when you yourself are quiet as well. i live on a
straight-away and in the wee hours of the morning, the odd car can be heard coming from the far end of the street, usually followed a minute later by sirens. a week ago i woke because, like your situation, the sound was different, higher revs, m o v i n g ! then i realized there was more than one car, one, two, three cars, street racing. we've had a litany of tragedy due to street racing in vancouver, the death toll is huge and sadly, usually innocent others.
we desperately need the courts to grow some cajones.

I think there are times when the atmospheric conditions are better for hearing..but I don't know if that has anything to do with stolen cars..
