I had all but forgotten this post of yours until I was playing around to see just what you can do with the various features here on Blogit. They have one that allows you to look at all the comments you have made here that are still up. I ended up here and saw you had replied to me and figured I should reply back.

Corbin
I gather from you last comment you dislike actors, plays, movies and all forms of entertainment that are not based fully on reality.

Many adults enjoy role-playing games and I am lost as to how you can try to make that a relevant issue to the topic at hand here. It seem you felt eh need to turn this all into a personal attack towards me and my hobbies instead of addressing the real issue here.

We are talking about religious freedom and the rights of people to be able to gather together with those who share their beliefs.  Do you find something wrong with that?

This is coming from someone who........
is supposed to be an adult who brags about  playing fantasy games and "pretending" to be a bisexual in a world ruled by the French?  Whoa!  Now that a heavy dose of reality there.......ROTFLMAO!

You are still clueless
Do you ever actually think for yourself?  It seems you let others do the thinking for you and just follow the heard.

Any way, atheism would have to be recognized by  the government as being a religion, even if by all logic it really doesn't fit as being one.  When the only requirement to be an atheist is to not believe in God, you really have no foundation to call it a religion.  Yet due to religious freedom, any set of religious based ideas has to be given equal respect and so the government CANNOT go and say one set of beliefs will be treated any differently just because it does not really fit in with the category of religion.

Of course I find it very amusing that the articles you found very much have the religious fudnies making the claim that atheism is not a religion.  I am unsure as to why it really matters in this case.  If an inmate wishes to form an atheist bookclub, who does that hurt?

Your comments and the articles just help to show that the far right is completely lost as to just what religious freedom is.

Hmmmm? August of 2005 The Federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.....
A federal court of appeals has ruled in favor of an inmate who claimed that Wisconsin prison officials violated his rights under the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment because they refused to allow him to create a study group for atheists. [1]

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Wisconsin prison officials violated the inmate's rights because they did not treat atheism as a religion.

"Atheism is [the inmate's] religion, and the group that he wanted to start was religious in nature even though it expressly rejects a belief in a supreme being," the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals said.

This recent ruling conforms to both common sense and legal precedent; In the 1961 case of Torcaso v. Watkins, secular humanism is identified as a religion.

AS ALWYAS, YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU SAY
Let see just how messed up your logic is here.

Hitler WAS NOT an atheist.  He believed in God.  No where is there any evidence that says other wise.  Was he a Christian?  Closer to being one than being an atheist. He may have been anti-Christian at times, but it was very clear he believed in God. While there is evidence to say he was not Christian, he clearly was not an atheist.

As for Stalin, he was messed up in the head.  Lenin warned against letting Stalin lead, that is well known.  Stalin was an abused child and had many, many issues in his life.  The guy was just screwed up and everyone around him seemed to get caught in his messed up life. He had no business at all being a leader of a country.  To say that Stalin is a good example of atheism, is to say that all angels should be judge my Lucifer's actions or that all Christians can be seen to be like Tammy Fay Baker.

Then we have Mao Zedong, who I honestly know very little about. In fact I find it hard to find much about his actions compared to those of Stalin.

Basically what you spit out here is common Christian propaganda, where the 'fact's are not really that accurate and do not give all the information.  You give three examples, one of which clearly was not an atheist.  It is also left out the tools of the death that were used in your examples, which were lacking up until the last half a century, after a time when the Christians started to behave themselves (To a degree) although I have no doubt at all that is during the Crusade the Christians had the ability, they would have done much more damage than Hitler ever could have hoped to do.

Oh, and Offbeat, atheists do not kill in the name of religion, since atheism in and of itself can not really be viewed as a religion. It is an anti-religion for lack of a better definition.  A big part of that being atheism is not organized and so you can not make any claims that there are any kid of teachings for atheism.

Even there, with all the examples and piss poor concepts shown here, the amount of events in which those who claim to follow the teachings of Christ are much greater and happen with much more frequency.  It still happens here and now in the U.S. as we speak.  When you makes claims like what you say here, you are defending the right for Christians to go out and kill others, while I would never defend Stalin's actions or say 'it was only a few million killed', unlike your line about how only 25 were killed in the Salem witch trials.  Are you saying that those 25 deaths are somehow more justified than any other deaths?

These are staggering stats..I honestly thought it was the Catholics who had killed the most in the name of religion over a period of centuries. Thanks for opening my eyes!

There are numerous sites dedicated to the quotes of Hitler....
attempting to prove his Christianity........ but I think it is important to be able to identify the difference between Hitler's public speeches and writing and what he really thought........A devious politician leading a nominally Christian country like 1930s Germany will say lots of Christian-sounding stuff to maintain popularity. Mein Kampf illustrates Hitler's views on propaganda.......

Hitler may in public have claimed to be doing the will of God, but records of his private conversations show otherwise..........

Many of these were recorded by his secretary and published in a book called Hitler's Table Talk (Adolf Hitler, London, Weidenfeld & Nicholson, 1953).

Night of 11th-12th July, 1941

"National Socialism and religion cannot exist together....
"The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is  Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity....
"Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things." (p 6 & 7)

10th October, 1941, midday

"Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure." (p 43)

14th October, 1941, midday

"The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.... When understanding of the universe has become widespread... Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity....
"Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse....
"...the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little....
    "Christianity <is> the liar....
"We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State." (p 49-52)

19th October, 1941, night

"The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity."

So there is much deliberation....but his government was anything but religious friendly in nature

hitler was Catholic?
Corbin, I admire your posting on this.  Dinesh D. is one of my favorites.  By the way, I'm still here.  I've been living, having fun with my family.  I am not a guy who lives on line and I never want to be one.
