Thanks for visiting Offbeats. The ferry ride is great and free and as for the island - there may be pleasant parts but I haven't come across any in my explorations.

Hi Kasthu - I turned up for the tree lighting but the crowd was so enormous the tree couldn't even be seen so I ended up watching it on TV but I really like the Rockefeller Centre (love the architecture around the city - Grand Central Station; the Library)

There's no place like home...
Glad you posted. I thought you were stuck between the Moon and New York City. I know, it's crazy... Best regards,
Melody

I never liked Staten Island either, but love the view of Manhattan from the ferry! Enjoy and go see Rockfeller Center. I have been invited there for a couple of days before Christmas..I may or may not go...Have fun!

Times Square is a totally insane place, I try to stay away from there as much as possible. Glad you go out and explored more of Bradway than just the TS part--its a fascinating road with a fascinating history. It used to be an indian warpath before the Dutch arrived and named it Breed Weg.
Did you go to the lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center last night? Or too crowded?
Have a great rest of your trip!

Well, Rob,
At least you can say you've had the true New York experience. I like New York too, but there are other places I'd rather visit. Oddly enough, none of them are here in America!!
BTW...When will you be returning to Oz?
See you soon, mate. Take good care.
