You just gave me another idea, Pat
In addition to writing to the advertisers, we can always stop watching these programs, thus discouraging said advertisers from wasting their money by advertising on these programs in the first place.

They put on TV what we watch, depending on what sells
based on the ads. If you don't like Paris Hilton, etc., and you'd like to see something else -- write to the advertiser.  I was taught in my journalism classes (or was it marketing 101) that every letter they receives they think equates to a thousand for people who haven't taken the time to write.

Legitimate anger can also give us the emotional energy to change things, if that anger is directed appropriately. For example, Jesus was so upset over the moneychangers' being in the temple that He did something about it. I'm not saying that we should become violent, but that our anger can be a force for change if it is directed correctly.

Getting angry at something is giving that something power over you. I
would much rather choose indifference when it comes to Hollywood and other trivial subjects.  That's what works best for me anyway.
