I love you to death, too, Bel, I feel you are a real kindred spirit
and a fellow traveler, whom I don't have to explain the unexplainable to, you just know. Because some things you can't know unless you've been there. That's why I do leave the subject of war alone, with you, usually.
But nothing annoys MG more than non-soldiers acting like experts.

I have no doubt that the Professor checks his fact but I find it better to leave some things alone as we all see I am easily riled on the topic LOL!
He did strike me as welll versed in what he was speaking of and when I read him it was before I realized he was your resident pain in the tail, I still made the choice to just leave it alone. I can debate all day but as individuals we have individual opinions, I respect that and I do appreciate that he checks his fact...I just don't always agree with the opinion. Then again many don't agree with me. By no means was I bashing him, just stating that he touches on subjects that can get me riled. It's best for me if I don't allow that too happen on a regular basis.
Regardless, I love you to death!

You may have misunderstood what I said about DC and the political agenda. I believe that comes from BOTH sides of the aisle. From where I sit these soldiers make a wonderful agenda for all of them while they are less than human when all is said and done. They make good news, they make good politics and during the holidays they also make for good sentiment but the problem for me is the fact that most people have tuned out on a huge level to those overseas and to the ones that have come home. I watch Carl suffer everyday because his job involves using his arms. He injured his elbow over there and they gave him your basic walmart brace for it, pills that he can't take because they make him incredibly paranoid and he fears hurting someone while on them, he has been told those pills won't cause that...funny he only gets like that when he takes them so he quit taking them against his doctors advice. They gave him an appointment for a specialist to determine if he needs sugery that appointment was made in August, he will get to see the specialist in Feb. For me this is not about politics it's about my husband, my friends, my friends husband's and in the end the people I love. Unless someone is spouting off about them, nobody really looks beyond the news to see who these men and women are and most don't bother to ask them how they feel, it makes many of us feel that if it aint about votes then they don't matter anyway. I guess I am just tired of these men and women being invisible when I have witnessed first hand how these tirades those in office both Republican and Democrat effect them.

And, although Professor Peabody, my boyfriend, can be harsh, he's usually
right about political things, he's an expert debater, and checks his facts carefully. I can't say the same for Corbin, whose sources, like Fox, Newsmax, and others are so biased as to be laughable as propaganda for Rupert Murdoch and the Bush Administration. I have no respect for their facts. They simply make them up and pull them out of their butts.

Bel, I see the Administration as having the agenda and using the troops
But as you say, we have differing opinions. I object to Corbin's tone, no one likes to be spoken to with such utter contempt and disrespect, as well as sloppy use of the facts. I don't respect him as a credible source, sorry, Bel, I know he's a "friend", but there it is. I just dislike the man.

I have to admit that I have read of the Prof's post and the one I read pushed some serious buttons for me so I simply left it alone. You and I have very different views on many of these topic but we have always respected the others view and I like it that way. LOL!
By now means do I see all democrats as people who hate the troops or think they are dumb but I do feel there are a few in Office (which I do see as being very different from the general population) who are using the troops for their agenda and I am not just speaking of democrats. I am am sick by the fact that these men and women have stopped being human beings to those in DC and have simply become the thing they attack the other side with.
The recent statement by Kerry and his delay in apologizing and the comment by Mr. Rangel hit just a bit too close to home for me and I did feel that I needed to give a different point of view on the topic.
As for Corbin, I like the man, we share some similar views and some I don't agree with. This happens to be one that hit close to home for me.

Bel, you are far more charitable about Corbin's motives than I am, take
this quote from Corbin's post, for example. The Charlie Rangel quote:
I want to make it abundantly clear: if there’s anyone who believes that these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits. And most all of them come from communities of very, very high unemployment. If a young fella has an option of having a decent career or joining the army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq." Charlie Rangel 15th District Congress
Where in any of that, does Charlie Rangel say that he hates the soldiers and despses them? Where did Kerry say that? They were stating the truth, as they see it, and as many of us Democrats see it.
Yet, Corbin's spitting and snarling would have it, we Democrats hate soldiers and think they're dumb. You know I live with Professor Peabody, former 82nd Airborne. What's Corbin's credentials regarding the military? I've never seen any.
I agree with you, it's heartbreaking, but it's the reality, that that what you signed up for as a military wife, and what Carl signed up for, and he puts it all on the line, without questioning, or being able to publicly question the mission. That''s a soldiier's job, duty and life, and yours. I hope to God and I am glad that MG's knee would not allow them to call him back up, or I'd be in same situation as you, out of my mind with fear and anxiety while I wait and wonder.
Yes, Corbin Dallas, Professor Peabody is a Libertarian and I am a Democrat, and he's ex-military, and says that the troosp are more apolitical or Democrat than Republican. What do you know and how do you know otherwise Corbin?
