Violence is a necessary evil. It is a mechanism of nature.
And I agree with you absolutely...

Julia...
Thank you...I wasn't suprised either.  Could it have something to do with the fact I am always right?  LOL

"never" shouldn't be in anyone's vocabulary--
because absolutes seldom are. I'm not surprised you won the debate.

I think you're pretty dead on, Alf.

Whether one like it or not or believes it or not, violence -- raw, naked force -- has pretty much soundly resolved more issues in human history than any other methodology. Hopefully, as we become civilized, we temper it with judgement and reason, but the act itself more often than not establishes resolution of some sort.

It's like the saying "The meek shall inherit the earth." I'm afraid that's true -- more often than not the meek get to inherit a shallow grave everyone else put them in.

You are welcome on my debate team.

I would be involved on your side of the debate team. . ,
only because your side has a logical suggestion.

"Violence Never Solves Anything" is merely a contrived adage that somebody once coined to hear his own brains rattle.

TAO of Drew...
You are wise.  Thanks for commenting.

I use this quote a lot:
"I will accept no peace without justice" - Peter Tosh.  You write wisely about the words "always" and "never".  I find that those who would say "violence never solves anything" are usually come from a place of safety.  If you are in a position of strength, violence is usually not welcome.  However, violence was the birth of this nation.  Violence plays an important role in evolution, not only amoung humans but throughout the animal kingdom.  With the exception of the venus-fly-trap, I think that plants are unable to benefit from violence, but for the non-Photosynthesising rest of us, there are certain benefits that can result from calcuated acts of violence.

I appreciate the posting.
