Or, if they feel like working, nobody would be forcing them to take the day off.

Yeah, give everyone 1 day a year that they could use for their religion.

In my opinion, it would be different if people took the day off voluntarily rather than being forced to take the day off because it's a federal holiday.

I know there would be a huge public outcry over this issue, but I'm in favor of taking Christmas off the roster of federal holidays. Sure, a lot of people would take the day off, anyway, and a lot of people would protest this, but Christmas is too explicitly Christian. If I can get Christmas off, then Jews should be allowed Hanukkah off, and everyone else should have their religious holidays declared federal holidays.
